Kundalini, in yogic and spiritual traditions, is defined as a primal energy or shakti believed to be located at the base of the spine. The term "Kundalini" is derived from a Sanskrit word "Kundal," which means "coiled," and it is often symbolically represented as a coiled serpent lying dormant at the base of the spine.

In these traditions, Kundalini is considered a powerful and potent force that resides within every individual. When awakened, it is said to rise through the spinal column, passing through the various energy centers or chakras of the body, leading to different physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual experiences. This awakening is often sought after in various spiritual practices as it is believed to lead to higher states of consciousness, spiritual enlightenment, and self-realization.

The process of Kundalini awakening involves the purification and balancing of the chakras and is said to bring about profound transformative experiences, encompassing mystical visions, emotional releases, and enhanced perception and awareness. However, it's also noted that the awakening of Kundalini energy can be an intense and challenging process, and it is usually recommended to undertake this journey under the guidance of a knowledgeable and experienced teacher. However, I believe that we are our own best teachers throughout this process as Kundalini is divine intelligence. I would only recommend seeking guidance if absolutely necessary during an especially troubling experience such as a spiritual emergency.

During a Kundalini awakening, a variety of symptoms can manifest, encompassing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual experiences.

This page is to provide a general overview, and I intend to describe my own accounts in another post(s) as well as link additional resources and publicly shared experiences. I think it's important to share as much information as possible for those who find themselves seeking it. I didn't have any pretext to my own experiences, initially. It was through endless searching to try and understand my circumstance that I found answers in blogs and eventually books and videos. I have noticed, over the years, that Kundalini awakening is becoming increasingly common. I aim to provide balanced, objective information that isn't predicated on fear or religious dogma.
